Paramore and David Byrne Trade Covers for Record Store Day
How cool is this for Record Store Day?! Former Talking Heads singer David Byrne is covering Paramore‘s ‘Hard Times’ and that cover will be the A-side to Paramore’s cover of Talking Heads’ “Burning Down The House” B-side (available as a limited edition 12″ vinyl on RSD, on April 20)!
Paramore recorded “Burning Down The House” as part of the tribute album Everyone’s Getting Involved.
Byrne took to his social media accounts on March 5 (this past Tuesday) to say, “The band told me that their song ‘Hard Times’ was inspired by Talking Heads, so I learned it and recorded my version of their great song with a horn section. This was fun!”
In a passage from a release for the remastered ‘Stop Making Sense’ live concert soundtrack, Byrne wrote, “As often happens, the songs got an added energy when we performed them live and were inspired by having an audience. In many ways, these versions are more exciting than the studio recordings, so maybe that’s why a lot of folks discovered us via this record.”
