Wolfgang Van Halen Says Next Mammoth Album Targeted For 2027

In a new interview with Wolfgang Van Halen, the Mammoth WVH frontman said the band plans to return to the studio in Q2 of 2027 to begin work on their next album!

Speaking with Adam Wallis of Global News, Van Halen explained that heavy touring in 2026 means songwriting is mostly on hold for now.

“On a headline tour with 90-minute sets, days off are just about resting up so I can be 110 percent,” he said. “But when we switch to opening for Bush, I might have a bit more time to write.”

Even so, he already has plenty of material in progress.

“I’ve got about 30 ideas sitting around,” he said, noting some songs on the latest album dated back to the early days of the band. “Sometimes it’s not when you start the idea. It’s when it’s finally done.”

Van Halen added that once recording begins, the creative floodgates usually open.

“By the time we get back in the studio I’ll probably end up writing another 10 or 12 songs,” he said.

Offstage, the musician admits he keeps to himself.

“I’m a pretty reclusive, shy dork,” he said. “Being the lead singer and having everyone looking at you isn’t something I’d normally choose. On days off I’m usually just playing video games, sleeping, and relaxing.”

Mammoth’s third album, The End, arrived last October. The 10-song, 39-minute release was recorded at 5150 Studios and produced by Michael “Elvis” Baskette.

As with previous releases, Van Halen wrote every song and performed all instruments and vocals himself.

The band launched its first headlining tour of 2026 on March 5 in Buffalo, with dates running through April 4 in Prior Lake. Support on the run comes from 10 Years and James and the Cold Gun.
