You need to watch this first teaser trailer for the new John Lennon doc ‘Borrowed Time’ before reading this article.
It’s that simple.
Right? How good does ‘Borrow Time: Lennon’s Last Decade’ look?!
What’s that? A new John Lennon documentary that uses archive footage, never-before-seen interviews and eyewitness accounts to look at why The Beatles broke up and what Lennon did afterwards?
Sign. Me. Up.
The official synopsis reads, “Follow the legend as he evolves beyond The Beatles, creating revolutionary music and standing at the forefront of anti-war protests that would make him one of the most influential pop culture icons of all time.”
‘Borrowed Time’ was was directed by Alan G. Parker (Hello Quo, It Was Fifty Years Ago Today… Sgt Pepper And Beyond) and has interviews with Lennon, Yoko One and Paul McCartney. And you get NEW INSIGHT from Tony Bramwell (Apple Records CEO), Earl Slick (guitarist), Vinny Appice (drummer) and Henry ‘The Horse’ Smith (1981 tour manager)!
The documentary wants to “set the record straight on the truth behind many famous Lennon moments.”
The doc follows Lennon from the release of his ’70 debut solo album, ‘John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band’, until his death in 1980.
During that time, Lennon released Paul McCartney diss track (the first ever?) ‘How Do You Sleep?’, as well as ‘Power To The People’, ‘’Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’ and ‘Imagine’. Lennon also found himself in a legal battle with US President Richard Nixon, whose administration spent four years trying to deport Lennon. The doc also looks at his relationship with Yoko Ono.
The doc’s logline reads, “For the first time ever, the full story of how John and Yoko met is revealed and watch as the curtain is lifted on the 1981 comeback tour that never came to be.”
