Watch: New Trailer For The Darkness’ Documentary ‘Welcome To The Darkness’

October 30, 2023

Well, based on the teaser-trailer for The Darkness‘ warts-and-all feature-length documentary, Lightbulb Film Distribution is sitting on gold! It looks good, doesn’t it? The doc hits theatres in the United Kingdom on November 9 for one night only, plus encores. You’ll also be able to watch it via digital download and Blu-ray from December 4.

The Darkness stormed the world stage in 2003 with their smash hit “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” and their award-winning, chart-topping, multi-platinum debut LP “Permission To Land”. Then, at their peak in 2006, they split up.

Gone.

Nine years later, director, and renowned photographer Simon Emmett tagged along with the band on their hilarious comeback trail. Emmett caught the band in small pub gigs, and packing arena shows.

20 years after their platinum-selling debut, Justin Hawkins, his brother Dan Hawkins, bassist Frankie Poullain and new drummer Rufus Taylor tell their story. Their comeback story.

Filmed over six years, “Welcome To The Darkness” is about fame, failure, friendship and forgiveness.

The band’s 2004 released, the “Permission To Land” LP, went to #1 on U.K. Albums chart and stayed there for four weeks. It spent 53 weeks in the Top 100. It went on to sell 3.5 million copies. The band won three BRIT Awards, including “British Album Of The Year”, “British Group” and “British Rock Act”.

The Darkness’ celebrations are capped off with a sold-out tour of the U.K. in December!

Who’s ready for A Little Thing Called Love, The Darkess!
