Huh. Had no idea you couldn’t see Black Sabbath‘s 2013 concert film Live… Gathered In Their Masses on YouTube ’til now. And for free, no less.
In 2013, Black Sabbath played a couple shows in Melbourne, Australia (their final time) – and the band’s first time on the continent with Ozzy Osbourne in over four decades. ANd wouldn’t you know it? They filmed everything.
Brilliant idea.
Live… Gathered In Their Masses was recorded over two nights at the Rod Laver arena in Melbourne. The band ripped thru all their biggest hits, and some stuff from their final studio LP, ’13’. Didn’t Rage drummer Brad Wik drum on that one? I think he did. Among the songs performed: ‘War Pigs’, ‘Black Sabbath’, ‘Iron Man’, ‘Sabbath Bloody Sabbath’ and ‘Paranoid’.

And this is cool – all profits from Black Sabbath’s final performance will go to charity Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice – a children’s hospice supported by Aston Villa.
Ozzy’s manager and wife, Sharon Osbourne, has said that Ozzy’s doing “really great” and feeling “very emotional” about the final-ever Sabbath date. “It’s what he wants,” she said. “He wants to say thank you to everybody. He didn’t have that chance because of his illness, but now he does have the chance.”
As for how much you’ll see Ozzy at the last Black Sabbath show – given his health – will be limited. Ozzy on his show on SiriusXM: “I’m not planning on doing a set with Black Sabbath but I am doing little bits and pieces with them. I am doing what I can, where I feel comfortable.”
“I am trying to get back on my feet. When you get up in the morning, you just jump out of bed. I have to balance myself, but I’m not dead. I’m still actively doing things.”
Ozzy’s last full-set concert was in 2018.
Tickets for Black Sabbath’s final show went on sale on February 14. And as you might expect, it left some fans feeling pissy. Frustrated. Getting tickets was not an easy feat. Some fans said the ticket price was too high ($350 – $1,500 CAD).
Still, rough ticket prices, to be fair.
It’s said that Ozzy now “can’t walk” as a result of Parkinson’s. Sharon has assured fans that his illness “doesn’t affect his voice”.
We’ll see just how involved Ozzy is when the time comes. Dont’ be surprised to see him sing one song and call it a day. Regardless, it’s a MASSIVE DAY FOR ROCK. So many incredible bands. One common goal. Remember, all profits from this show are supporting equally across Cure Parkinson’s, the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice.
