Did you hear about this? The UK government has banned single use vapes and said there could be £600 fines for vape users.
As of today (June 1), disposable vapes are banned across all four nations of the UK. The government says it’s in an effort to protect children’s health and prevent environmental damage.
Yes, environmental damage.
Shops and businesses won’t be allowed to sell single-use e-cigarettes anymore. If they do, they face a £200 fine. Keep doing it and there’s unlimited fines, a criminal record or imprisonment for up to two years.
Prison. For selling e-cigarettes.
The UK government is also cracking down on how the general public is disposing of vapes. There’s a potential fine of £600 if households “breach their waste duty of care” and throw vapes away in the trash.
Taking decisive action.
From 1 June, the sale and supply of single-use vapes will be illegal.
This will stop the flood of litter onto the nation’s streets and and build a more circular economy.

According to the UK government’s ‘Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment guidance’, if you vape, there’s strict rules for their disposal: “When vapes are disposed of in household bins, this can lead to fires in bin trucks and at waste management sites, posing a huge risk to workers and the public”.
This policy, first brought forward by Rishi Sunak’s government in January ’24, is part of a wider initiative under the Tobacco And Vapes Bill, which wants to create a smoke-free generation by banning the sale of tobacco products to people born after January 1, 2009.
No kidding. What do you think about that?
Do you think a vape ban is coming to North America too?
