U2 Release Full Acoustic Set from Woody Guthrie Prize Night

U2 just released the full live acoustic set performed by Bono and The Edge at their Woody Guthrie Prize ceremony, giving you a stripped-back snapshot of the band at their most intimate.

The annual honour, presented by the Woody Guthrie Center, recognizes artists who embody Guthrie’s spirit by using their platform to amplify unheard voices and confront what’s broken in the world, and how to fix it.

U2 received the prize in October during a ceremony at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The night featured acoustic performances of U2 classics including One, Sunday Bloody Sunday, and Running To Stand Still, alongside a cover of Guthrie’s Jesus Christ.

The set also included Mothers Of The Disappeared and Pride (In the Name of Love), all delivered with the kind of restraint that puts the songwriting front and centre.

Now, the band has officially shared the full audio from the performance!

Past recipients of the Woody Guthrie Prize include Pussy Riot (2023), Bruce Springsteen (2021), Mavis Staples, Kris Kristofferson, Tom Morello, Chuck D, and Joan Baez.

Meanwhile, Bono recently appeared at a Christmas Eve busking event in Dublin, joining Imelda May for Darlene Love’s Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). The outdoor gig drew hundreds outside the Gaiety Theatre and featured performances from The Riptide Movement, Danny O’Reilly of The Coronas, and Shobsy, before closing with Fairytale Of New York in tribute to Shane MacGowan.

Bono has also hinted that U2 are “ready for the future” and sitting on “25 great songs” for a potential new album.

Are you ready for a new U2 album?
