The White Stripes just announced a 20th anniversary vinyl reissue of their 2005 album, ‘Get Behind Me Satan’.
You’ll be able to grab Jack and Meg’s album in a 2LP special edition, featuring one red smoke vinyl and one clear with red and black smoke vinyl. The album is out June 27 thru Third Man Records. Pre-order it here.
I didn’t know this – the album was recorded in the stairway of Jack’s house in Detroit in the early months of ’05. Cool, right? The album won a Grammy for Best Alternative Album, and sold over 900,000 copies in the US.
The vinyl reissue comes months after ‘Get Behind Me Satan XX’, an expanded version of the album, with songwriting demos, alternate studio takes and live versions.
Meanwhile, The White Stripes are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, Bad Company and more!
Love it when bands do this – reissue older albums, throw in some cool outtakes, rarities and/or b-sides. Good on ya, Jack & Meg!
