Staind guitarist Mike Mushok was recently interviewed on Saginaw, Michigan radio station Z93 and talked about recording the band’s upcoming new album, “Confessions Of The Fallen”. It’s the band’s first studio album since 2011, produced by Erik Ron (Godsmack, Panic! At The Disco) and you’ll see it released this September!
As for why it took so long to make a new album, “I always hoped that [we would get around to working on new music]. Aaron [Lewis, Staind frontman] wanted to pursue his country career and kind of felt like doing Staind was something that would be detrimental to what that would be. He had to show the country people, ‘I’m a country guy.’ And I was able to go off and do a few other things, which was great — play with some really great people, musicians. Thankfully I was able to do that. That being said, I’m very thankful that we’re back together and doing this. Because this is really kind of what I started with Aaron — over 28 years ago, whatever, or 27 years ago; whatever it was. So it’s great to be able to be back making music again. And I’m looking forward to going out and doing these shows.”
Staind has released the music video for “Lowest In Me”, the first single off “Confessions Of The Fallen”.
Staind singer Aaron Lewis did an interview with Billboard and talked about the lyrical inspiration for “Lowest In Me”, “Everybody has got people in their lives that don’t bring out the good in somebody. Just with what’s going on in the world right now, there’s so many things, so many people that are like, ‘You bring out the lowest in me.’ There’s a lot of factors out there that could fall under the ‘you’ category.”
Staind has put out seven album since ’95, as mentioned, the last being 2011’s self-titled release. They’ve had several hit songs over the years, including “It’s Been Awhile” from the #1 album, “Break The Cycle”.
Meanwhile, Staind and Godsmack recently announced a 25-city co-headlining tour that starts July 18 at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in St. Louis, Missouri and wraps up in Austin, Texas at Germania Insurance Amphitheatre on August 31.
