The first look at Turner as the archaeologist-adventurer in Amazon Prime Video’s new Tomb Raider series just dropped. And yes, it’s the classic 90s look: green tank, shorts, round red shades, guns holstered.
Sophie isn’t alone. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is at the helm as creator, writer, co-showrunner, and executive producer. Chad Hodge joins as co-showrunner, Jonathan Van Tulleken directs and executive produces. The series is produced by Story Kitchen, Crystal Dynamics, and Amazon MGM Studios.
Joining Turner is a list-of: Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein.
Boom. What an ensemble cast! Wow.
Turner shared the photo marking the start of production today, calling Croft “such an iconic character… I am giving everything I’ve got.” And she means it. This is the first step into shoes previously worn by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.
Turner adds that having Phoebe Waller-Bridge leading the charge makes all the difference: “We (and Lara) are in very safe hands.”
A release date hasn’t been announced, but Prime Video promises to honour the Tomb Raider legacy while offering fresh adventures for fans. Waller-Bridge teased last year: “Get your artefacts out… Croft is coming…”
Sophie Turner has been rumoured for the role since November 2024. Now it’s official. Croft is back. And she’s Sophie Turner.
