Slipknot’s Secret 2008 Sessions Finally Has a Target Year

Slipknot’s percussionist Clown says the band is finally looking to release their long-shelved “lost” album, Look Outside Your Window, in 2026.

The record was born in the shadows back in 2008, tracked by Clown, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, and Jim Root while Slipknot were busy working on All Hope Is Gone. Only one song has ever escaped that vault: ’Til We Die.

For years, you’ve heard about this ‘lost’ album. Clown teased it in 2019. Taylor said he “tried like hell” to merge the worlds needed to finish it. Root has joked about leaking it himself. At one point, the band nearly dropped it at Christmas 2019, then backed off so they wouldn’t mess with We Are Not Your Kind.

Clown kept promising release windows that never materialized.

Last year he even told NME that 2025 was the year, saying the artwork was done and the record was in management’s hands. “I’m happy to finally be rid of it,” he said. Whether it’s “good” or not? “I love it,” he said. “I hope the people who waited think it was worth it.”

Now, there’s a new twist. In a December 3 Discord Q&A, Clown told fans the latest timeline: 2026. “I know I said this year. I’m sorry. Things change with the art. But 2026 is the year. Have faith. I promise.”

Singer Corey Taylor has admitted he’s partly to blame for the delay because he’s constantly releasing his own projects. “Dude, why didn’t you tell me?” he said. Taylor has now promised not to drop anything that derails the incoming release.

Meanwhile, Slipknot themselves aren’t sitting still. New drummer Eloy Casagrande says the band is deep into new material, trading riffs, building beats, jamming hard, and stacking ideas. “We’re cooking,” he said. “New music is coming for sure.”

The ‘lost’ album inches closer and the Slipknot machine never sleeps!
