Skid Row Launch Global Search for New Lead Singer

I know, I know. You’re thinkin’ why not just get Sebastian Bach back in the band, right? Skid Row has launched a global search for a new lead vocalist, partnering with Sweetwater in a first-of-its-kind collaboration. Singers from around the world are invited to audition for the chance to front the band!

The search comes as Skid Row approaches its 40th anniversary in 2026, following the March 2024 departure of Erik Grönwall, who stepped away to focus on his health. Auditions are officially open (as of February 5), with no submission deadline. The band will continue reviewing candidates until the right singer is found.

“This is not a contest or a gimmick,” the band says. “It’s a genuine search for the right voice, presence, and authenticity to carry Skid Row forward.”

Known for an iconic catalogue that includes 18 And Life, Youth Gone Wild, I Remember You and Monkey Business, Skid Row says the next vocalist must have elite pipes, strong chemistry, and the ability to honour the band’s legacy while helping shape its future.

“We need someone who can sing the material, tour hard, and be a good hang,” bassist Rachel Bolan has said. “We’re family. That part matters just as much as the voice.”

The band has already auditioned several candidates, both established and unknown, but stresses they are not rushing the process. “We have the luxury of time,” Bolan added. “The shows will still be there when we find the right person.”

Sweetwater content creator Nick Bowcott called the partnership a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” recalling seeing Skid Row live before they were signed and being “blown away by the songs and the energy.”

Skid Row has made it clear this search is about moving forward. A reunion with former singer Sebastian Bach has again been ruled out, with the band emphasizing that happiness, chemistry, and long-term stability are the priority.
