Did you hear about this yet? Over the weekend, police in Beverly Hills, California, detained boxer Ryan Garcia – a video shows him in handcuffs being led out of The Waldorf Astoria. He was charged with felony vandalism.
Ryan Garcia was arrested for felony vandalism at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills on Saturday afternoon. Law enforcement sources say he trashed his room/hallway at the luxury hotel. Here was Ryan being taken away by BHPD.

Garcia allegedly trashed his hotel room at The Waldorf Astoria and the hallway before police had to calm him down. According to police, the damages surpassed $15,000!
Wow.
And for the record, any damage over $400 is considered a felony in California.
Garcia’s attorney, Darin Chavez, issued a statement to ESPN late Saturday night (June 8), while noting that there could be public intoxication charges, too. in addition. Chavez also mentioned that Garcia recently received “devastating” news about his mother’s health.
“Ryan has been open about his struggles with mental health over the years, and at this time he is dealing with an immense emotional burden. The support and understanding from fans and the public are crucial as he navigates these personal challenges. We are working diligently to provide Ryan with the resources he needs. Our team is committed to ensuring that he receives the appropriate help and care to address both his immediate and long-term well-being. We ask for continued support and compassion as Ryan focuses on his family and his health at this time.”
Apparently someone in Garcia’s family called a wellness check on the boxer at the same hotel on Wednesday. The New York State Athletic Commission had Garcia undergo a mental health evaluation prior to his April ’24 fight with Devin Haney (with the result of that fight in jeopardy after Garcia tested positive for a banned substance).
Are you not surprised to see more of this sorta stuff happen with athletes / celebrities / famous people? His mother’s health aside (not a reason to trash a hotel), the limelight makes you do stupid shit. And this is proof of that.
