Seventeen names. One Hall.
The nominees for the 2026 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are officially on the table, with inductees set to be revealed in April ahead of an autumn ceremony.
You can bet that the above list will trigger some.
More than 1,200 artists, historians and industry insiders will cast ballots. You can weigh in too, with the top five vote-getters combining into one fans’ ballot.
Oasis land on the shortlist for the third straight year. Joy Division and New Order are once again paired as a single nominee, also marking their third nod. Repeat contenders include Mariah Carey, Iron Maiden, Billy Idol, Sade and The Black Crowes.
The first-timers bring serious weight. Lauryn Hill, Jeff Buckley, Wu-Tang Clan, Pink, INXS, Phil Collins, Luther Vandross, Shakira, New Edition and Melissa Etheridge all make the cut.
Artists become eligible 25 years after their first commercial recording. This year, only Pink scores a nomination on her first try. Collins, already inducted with Genesis, could become a multi-time inductee if he gets the nod, joining an elite club of repeat honourees.
Last year’s class included The White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, Soundgarden, Bad Company, Chubby Checker and Joe Cocker, with Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon honoured for Musical Influence.
Of course, nominations don’t always mean celebration.
Liam Gallagher famously torched the Hall in 2024, calling it “full of BUMBACLARTS” and urging fans not to vote. A year later, he doubled down, labelling it “for WANKERS,” before joking that if Oasis got in he’d declare it “the best thing EVER.”
Rock and roll politics. Still undefeated.
