Robert Pattinson’s Batman will not be in James Gunn’s DC Universe

Well, you gotta know all the ‘Robert Pattinson as The Batman‘ haters are gonna love this.

DC Universe head-honcho James Gunn has said you shouldn’t expect Pattinson’s version to be part of his DC Universe.

To catch you up – Gunn has become co-CEO since taking control of DC Studios. He’s also directing the upcoming Superman movie. Fans have been on Gunn to incorporate Pattinson’s The Batman into his Universe.

But that’s not happening.

Gunn was at a recent press event and basically eliminated all possibilities of that happening. Gunn was asked if Pattinson would be included in his DC slate: “It’s certainly not the plan.”

Gunn’s co-CEO Peter Safran offered more of an explanation, saying while they “love” Pattinson’s take, they’re focused on introducing their own version of Batman in the upcoming film The Brave and The Bold: “We love him, but we’ve got to introduce a Batman into the DCU. It’s imperative. That’s the plan for The Brave and the Bold.”

Safran also added that DC Studios is “in very active development on The Brave and The Bold, and that story’s also coming together very nicely” and “we’ll have more on that for you very soon.”

Wonder what this’ll do for The Batman 2 (starring Pattinson)? In December, Warner Brso. announced that movie was pushed back a year – with a new release for October 1, 2027. Will Gunn pull the plug completely? I bet he does.

Sounds like Pattinson as The Batman was a one-off?

The question is… if not Pattinson’s latest in the DC Universe – who should be The Batman next?
