Did you hear about this yet? A new chapter is quietly taking shape in the world of Radiohead.

Guitarist Ed O’Brien has confirmed that singer Thom Yorke is set to release a new solo album later this year, adding another layer to an already busy creative orbit surrounding the band.
“Thom’s got a solo album that’s going to come out later in the year,” O’Brien said, framing it as part of a broader wave of individual projects from all five members.
Rather than pulling focus from the band, O’Brien sees it as part of the ecosystem.
“The Radiohead thing is the mothership,” he explained. “But we’ve got these little satellites.”
Those “satellites” are everywhere right now. The Smile continues to evolve, guitarist Jonny Greenwood remains active across film and collaboration work, drummer Philip Selway continues his solo output, and bassist Colin Greenwood has been performing with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Yorke himself hasn’t been quiet. His last solo album, Anima (2019), arrived alongside a short film directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, and he’s since released collaborative work and film scores, including music for Confidenza.
Meanwhile, O’Brien is stepping back into his own spotlight.
His new solo album Blue Morpho drops May 22, marking his first release under his own name after debuting as EOB with Earth in 2020. Produced by Paul Epworth, the project leans into psych-folk textures, trip-hop undercurrents, and what’s being described as a more introspective reset following a challenging period in his life.
There’s also movement on the band front.
O’Brien recently hinted that Radiohead could return to the road starting in 2027, with a scaled-back global approach… one continent at a time, roughly 20 shows per year.
No rush. No overload.
It’s been nearly a decade since A Moon Shaped Pool (2016), but between solo releases, side projects, and long-range touring plans, the Radiohead universe isn’t slowing down. It’s expanding!
