Queens Of The Stone Age Return With Easy Street Featuring Nikki Lane

You know when a band you’ve followed for years finds a new way to surprise you? Queens Of The Stone Age is doing that with Easy Street… a song that feels like them while pushing into unexpected territory.

Queens Of The Stone Age has returned with their first new material since 2023’s In Times New Roman…, sharing their new single Easy Street.

The psychedelic, laid-back track first appeared live last fall during the band’s Catacombs tour, where it quickly became a fan favourite. Now, the official studio version has arrived, featuring singer Nikki Lane alongside Josh Homme’s signature vocals.

Produced by Homme and bassist Michael Shuman, the song blends acoustic guitar, psychedelic synths and the kind of imperfections that make a recording feel alive.

Homme explained that the track finds humour in uncomfortable places.

“It’s kind of a funny song. It’s like hitting your funny bone, where it’s funny because it hurts and it hurts because it’s funny. You’re serious, but it’s funny.”

The band intentionally kept mistakes and imperfections in the recording process.

“We made it the way you’d make a demo. No click track, mistakes left in. It speeds up, it slows down, the claps aren’t great, but they’re not bad, and a bad clap adds this human thing you can’t fake.”

For Homme, those flaws are part of what makes the song special.

“It’s not just about silliness. It’s about understanding the imperfection of your life. The song, like your life, is in the mistakes. Its imperfections are unbeatable.”

The official video for Easy Street, directed by Tony Wolski and Christopher Gruse from a story and idea by Homme, follows a battered Homme trying to escape a bizarre group of pursuers, before taking an unexpected turn that celebrates the outsiders and misfits often overlooked.

Fans noticed the song’s different direction when it debuted live, with some describing its “Flamenco vibe” and others calling it “maybe the most catchy thing they played tonight.”

Queens Of The Stone Age are currently touring Europe with System Of A Down before joining Foo Fighters for the North American leg of their Take Cover stadium tour later this summer.

After previously promising fans they wouldn’t have to wait another six years between records, is Easy Street what we should expect of the next Queens Of The Stone Age album?
