Puscifer Drop ‘ImpetuoUs’ and Tease a New Comic Book Universe

Puscifer is wasting no time in 2026.

The band just released a new single, ‘ImpetuoUs’, a slow-burner that doubles as the final preview of their upcoming album Normal Isn’t, due February 6 via Puscifer Entertainment, Alchemy Recordings, and BMG. Alongside the track, they’ve also teased a brand-new comic book series, expanding the ever-stranger Pusciverse.

‘ImpetuoUs’ opens in a haze of pulsing synths before easing into Maynard James Keenan’s unmistakable vocal calm.

“You feel it too / They’re all afraid / We’re not the same, no need to be / Lets make some waves,” Keenan sings, before urging movement over fear:
“Don’t leave, move or follow / Let’s just dance / Fearless and a bit impetuous / Take my hand.”

By the time it reaches its peak, the message is clear and defiant:
“We are the curious, dauntless, and venturous in all ways / We are the Vehement the Unpredictable unafraid.”

Speaking about the track, Keenan framed it less as a finished product and more as a structure handed off to the listener.

“I’m looking forward to hearing where this song takes people,” he said. “As the writers, we forget that in a way, we are carpenters and that we’ve been with this song since it was a pile of lumber.”

“Our perspective may differ from the final occupant of this space we’ve constructed. Shelter, Bridge or Gallows, Coffin? Curious to find out.”

The music video adds another layer, offering the first look at Tales From The Pusciverse, a new comic series launching alongside Normal Isn’t. The debut issue centers on Bellendia Black, a character first introduced in the video for ‘Pendulum’. More details on the series are expected soon.

The album itself was written and recorded across Arizona, Los Angeles, and on the road during last year’s Sessanta Tour. Earlier singles ‘Self Evident’ and ‘Pendulum’ hinted at its direction. ‘ImpetuoUs’ confirms it: darker electronics, sharper teeth.

Co-producer Mat Mitchell says the band intentionally removed the safety net. “From the outset, we had discussed an element of rawness and edge, which guitar brings,” he said. “We got rid of the guard rails and made the music more aggressive.”

Keenan adds that the record reflects the unease of the present moment, “‘Normal Isn’t’ reflects this time we are living in. As storytellers and artists, our job is to observe, interpret, and report,” he said. “We take in our environment and share what we see, and what we see around us does not appear normal. Not by a long shot.”

The album features Keenan, Carina Round, and Mitchell, with guest appearances from Greg Edwards, Tony Levin, Gunnar Olsen, Sarah Jones, and Danny Carey.

A US tour is also on the horizon.

Puscifer is not easing into the year. They’re pushing straight through it!
