Paul McCartney To Do “captivating” Screenings for rare Wings Documentary, ‘One Hand Clapping’
Have you heard? Paul McCartney announced “captivating” theatre screenings of Wings‘ documentary, One Hand Clapping!
This announcement gives you a chance to go back to 1974, when McCartney & co. were working on the live studio album, ‘One Hand Clapping’!
The band recorded the album in August 1974, while the band was enjoying their seventh week in a row at the top of the UK album charts with ‘Band On The Run’. They recorded the album when McCartney and Wings went into Abbey Road Studios to record a documentary and possibly a live studio album.
Now, directed by David Litchfield, the doc will show you the look and feel of when it was captured, and show the band’s historic recording session at Abbey Road Studios!
The documentary will premiere as an exclusive cinema event on September 26. You’ll get a chance to look into the making of the album, see rare footage, interviews with the band, and insights from the creative team.
It also has previously unreleased Backyard Sessions – showcasing Paul McCartney on acoustic guitar, playing songs from his discography – as well as the unreleased song ‘Blackpool’ and covers of personal favourites like ‘Twenty Flight Rock’.
McCartney says, “It’s so great to look back on that period and see the little live show we did. We made a pretty good noise actually. It was a great time for the band, we started to have success with Wings, which had been a long time coming.”
The footage, originally shot on ‘70s videotape, has been scanned and restored at 4K!
The screenings for One Hand Clapping has a filmed introduction by Paul McCartney – Tickets go on sale next Friday (August 16) here.
