Paramore singer Hayley Williams starts new band, Power Snatch

Hayley Williams just launched a brand-new band called Power Snatch, and they’re already three singles deep!

The Paramore singer formed the project with longtime collaborator Daniel James, who also co-wrote and produced tracks on her recent solo album Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party. The duo officially unveiled Power Snatch during a joint appearance on Apple Music 1 this week, announcing the release of a new single titled ‘Assignment’.

But fans were already one step ahead.

Internet sleuths quickly discovered that Power Snatch’s Instagram account has been active since last summer, including a teaser clip of an unreleased song posted back in July. A further dig on Bandcamp revealed a third track, ‘DMs’, catching many by surprise.

Of the three songs, ‘DMs’ leans hardest into a moody, shoegaze-adjacent haze. Williams sings about an ex over grungy, distorted guitars, reflecting on past versions of herself. “Where I should keep this memory, that version of me,” she sings, before building toward the aching refrain: “I remember when I was her / I remember when I was your girl.”

The unnamed Instagram preview takes a sharper left turn. It’s livelier, stranger, and more abstract, with unsettling textures underneath Williams’ dry, tongue-in-cheek delivery. One standout lyric sums up the vibe perfectly: “I think about Wayne’s World the way some folks think about The Godfather.”

Then there’s ‘Assignment’, the most aggressive of the trio. Heavy, high-energy, and packed with jagged riffs, it pushes Power Snatch toward a more intense sonic space. Some fans have already pointed out echoes of experimental shred and noise rock, even drawing loose comparisons to Buckethead.

The rapid arrival of new music may surprise some, given that Williams’ solo album only dropped in July, but she’s been clear about her creative momentum. Last October, she told Rolling Stone she wants to “be in 100 bands before I die,” calling it the pace she thrives on.

She echoed a similar sentiment in a previous interview with Kerrang!, explaining why she wasn’t rushing into another Paramore album after 2023’s This Is Why. “It wasn’t time to make another Paramore record, but I had a lot of shit to say,” she said. “It’s OK that it’s me by myself and not Paramore right now. Paramore will always have its time.”

As for Power Snatch live shows, nothing has been announced yet. Williams is currently preparing for a massive global tour supporting Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party, which was recently extended due to overwhelming demand.

That album heads into this weekend’s Grammy ceremony with four nominations, including Best Alternative Music Album.

Beyond Power Snatch, Williams has also helped release an album recorded by her grandfather nearly 50 years ago and kicked off 2026 by covering one of his ’70s tracks. The pace isn’t slowing down. If anything, she’s just getting started.
