Ozzy, DMB, And Foreigner Among 2024 Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees
Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Matthews Band and Foreigner are among the 2024 inductees into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Other inductees in the Performer category are Peter Frampton, Mary J. Blige, Cher, Kool & The Gang and A Tribe Called Quest.
No doubt this will outrage some. You can expect to see ‘Please tell me how Kool & The Gang is rock’, ‘Cher? Nice one Hall of Fame. If I could turn back time, I’d stop giving a shit about your inductions’ or ‘Mary J. Blige is as much rock as The Toronto Maple Leafs becoming 2024 Stanley Cup champions.’. And maybe all of those chirps are legit. And, really, does it really matter? This is coming from the same institution who hasn’t inducted so many worthy bands (Iron Maiden & Motorhead among them).
Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick and Norman Whitfield will be presented with the Musical Excellence Award; Alexis Korner, John Mayall and Big Mama Thornton will receive the Musical Influence Award; and Suzanne de Passe is getting the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
The actual ceremony isn’t until October 19 (The Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio) and will air live on Disney+. An edited version will run on ABC at a later date and you’ll be able to watch on Hulu the next day.
