Tom Morello just cracked open the vault on the long-rumoured stash of unheard Audioslave music! It’s the final batch of music he created with Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell during their run in the 2000s!

The supergroup, Morello, Cornell, and fellow Rage Against The Machine bandmates Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk formed in 2001, put out three studio albums, and burned bright until their split in 2007.
Morello and Cornell briefly reunited in January 2017 for the ‘Anti-Inaugural Ball,’ a one-off performance aimed squarely at the political moment. Four months later, Cornell was gone. A loss that still echoes through both camps.
Back in 2019, Morello hinted there was “a record’s worth” of unreleased material sitting in the Audioslave archives. He fully expected it would surface “at some point.”
That was six years ago.
Now, in a new interview with SNSMix, Morello finally offers clarity.
“It’s not for lack of anything other than that we don’t have it together,” he said. “There’s no plan to not put it out. I’d love for it to get into the world, and hopefully it will one day.”
He added that the sessions aren’t a neatly curated greatest-hits stash. They’re a mix of leftovers from all three Audioslave albums, each with its own champions. “Some of them are really great.”
Vicky Cornell has also said her late husband’s unreleased work will eventually “see the light of day,” calling it essential to keeping his legacy alive.
How cool is this?! New Audioslave is coming soon!
