Can you remember the first time you heard the ‘Black Album’ and how blown away you were? Holy crap this is huge! Metallica‘s self-titled album (the ‘Black Album’) has now spent 750 total weeks on the Billboard 200 chart (it’s #178 this week)! This is only the fourth album in history to do so, following Pink Floyd‘s “The Dark Side Of The Moon” (990 total weeks), Bob Marley‘s “Legend” (843 total weeks) and Journey‘s “Greatest Hits” (813 total weeks)!

Back in September ’21, “Metallica” re-entered the Billboard 200 chart at position #9. It was the first time in 29 years that the album cracked the Top 10 (the 30th-anniversary reissue came out on September 10, 2021).
Goes without saying, the Black Album is one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed albums ever. It gave Metallica their first #1 album in ten countries, had a four week #1 run in the U.S. and have five massive radio hits – “Enter Sandman”, “The Unforgiven”, “Nothing Else Matters”, “Wherever I May Roam” and “Sad But True”. The Black Album remains the best-selling album in the history of Nielsen SoundScan, outselling every release in every genre over the past 33 years! It has sold over 17 million copies and growing!
Do you think there will be another band/artist to do 750 weeks on the Billboard 200 and why is it Taylor Swift?
