Okay, what now?! Did you hear? There were reports online saying that Lana Del Rey‘s next album will have a southern gothic sound. This is likely a case of don’t believe everything you read/hear about on the internet.

Earlier this year Del Rey said she was going to go Country with her new album, her tenth and that she was working with regular collaborator, producer and Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff, alongside Country music writer Luke Laird.
Lana was trying to offer an explanation as to what was delaying new music, saying there was “a literal energetic pause” in the process, saying it was “going to take a turn” in a different direction.
She spoke to Vogue Italia and said the new album might even change.
“There was a lot of American flair, too much of that very American aesthetic.”
Del Rey added, “I stopped because I didn’t recognize myself. I would like this album to be a reflection of the person I am today. I might turn it into something more ‘southern gothic’, like it was supposed to be in the beginning, and less country.”
Now, through her Insta account, Lana wrote, “I think maybe there’s been a mistake in the Italian translation of what I said.”
She spoke to NME earlier this year and said, “I’ve maybe less to say in terms of any self-revealing things like on ‘Tunnel’ or ‘Blue Bannisters’ or ‘Chemtrails Over The Country Club’, and just more melodic. Maybe more American Songbook style?”
Sounds like we’re bang on the twang-gang. Country Lana Del Rey, anyone?
