LAMB OF GOD’s RANDY BLYTHE Says His Upcoming Book Tour ‘Will Not Be Appropriate For Children’

What would we do without the internet?! Wait for Metal Edge or Circus magazine to tell us the latest on Lamb Of God singer D. Randall “Randy” Blythe‘s new book, I guess. If you missed it, Randy recently announced some spoken-word and question-and-answer events to help promo his upcoming book, “Just Beyond The Light: Making Peace With The Wars Inside Our Head”. These’ll be cool nights!

You don’t have long to wait – Randy’s book is due out February 18, 2025 via Grand Central Publishing. He describes “Just Beyond The Light” as a “tight, concise roadmap of how I have attempted to maintain what I believe to be a proper perspective in life, even during difficult times.”

Theses special “evening with” events includes a spoken-word performance, an audience Q&A, a copy of the book and a chance to get it signed. Tickets for the dates are available via RandyBlythe.com.

Here’s what Randy wrote on his Instagram page on Monday (Jan.6), “Aloha and happy New Year to everyone! I am very busy grinding away at stories for my upcoming spoken word tour to support my new book, ‘Just Beyond The Light’. I am quite excited for the tour, but I do feel the need to clarify something in advance about these shows.

“I just got an email from an acquaintance mentioning that they have already bought tickets to one of the shows, and that they will be bringing their son, a lovely young man I have met before. I had to reply and tell them that I am not so sure this is a good idea.

“As I have mentioned elsewhere, this is NOT a regular book tour, meaning an author sitting at a stool looking all scholarly and reading a few passages from their book, then sitting at a table and signing copies. I will be reading a tiny excerpt at one point from the book, but the rest of the time I’m onstage I will be attempting to illustrate the major themes of the book via stories from my life.

“Just in case any of y’all are completely unaware of my history as a human being, over the years, at times I have lived a very, ahem, ‘full throttle life’ — there is a VERY GOOD reason that I have been clean and sober for 14 years now. This means that some, not all, but SOME of the stories I will be telling will involve heavy, HEAVY alcohol and drug usage, as well as the batshit insane situations that occurred as a result of said substance intake. Some of this will be very funny (at least to me),and some of it will be sad/pathetic — regardless, I’m fairly certain it will NOT be appropriate for children. This is your warning, ok?

“I’m not going to be gratuitously foul-mouthed, but I’m not a choir boy, my life hasn’t been a never-ending trip to Sunday school and we aren’t going to be sitting around a campfire at summer camp- it’s adult story telling time, y’all, so leave the kids at home. I don’t want to traumatize your children, and trust me, you don’t want to have to answer the questions your 8 year-old will have after hearing some of this stuff.

“Everyone else, I’ll see ya there!”

If you caught his debut memoir, ‘Dark Days’, you know Randy is a brilliant writer. He really shares some incredible stories from his past.

And now, with ‘Just Beyond The Light’, Randy shares how he works daily to maintain positivity in a world that feels like it is spinning out of control. Humourous. Witty. Conversational, everyman-philosopher style. Expect a mix of sobriety, art, and surfing. He writes about his childhood in the South, of fallen friends, of what he’s learned touring the world.

And of course, In 2012, Blythe famously was arrested in the Czech Republic and charged with manslaughter for allegedly pushing a 19-year-old fan offstage at a show two year prior and causing injuries that led to the fan’s death. Blythe spent 37 days in a Prague prison before being found not guilty in 2013.

37 DAYS IN PRISON.

Randy Blythe has an incredible story to tell, and I for one, cannot wait to sink my mind-teeth into his next book! What’s your favourite rock read?
