Mark Osegueda says Kerry King’s solo band is already deep into writing album #2! Speaking on That Metal Interview, the Death Angel frontman said the first record’s cycle is done. They played North America, Europe, South America, Japan, Australia.
Now, they’re writing and want you to hear a new album in ’26!
Osegueda praised the lineup: King, Phil Demmel, Kyle Sanders, and Paul Bostaph, calling them longtime friends and solid players. He also said he takes real pride in delivering Tom Araya’s parts live, treating Slayer’s catalogue and Araya’s voice with respect.
Vocally, he says this project lets him tap into a more aggressive side, even heavier than anything he’s done with Death Angel. It’s a chance to vent, stretch out, and show another character in his voice.
From Hell I Rise dropped in May 2024, produced by Josh Wilbur and tracked at Henson in Los Angeles. Osegueda said the studio experience was intense, focused, and one of the best he’s had.
Landing the gig wasn’t automatic. He reached out during the pandemic, sent demos, and spent months proving he was the right fit. Eventually, King offered him the job directly. Osegueda said he worked even harder after that, making sure he could deliver everything King heard in his head.
King later told Rolling Stone he considered multiple singers, including Philip Anselmo, but ultimately felt Osegueda was the voice the songs needed.
The band’s first shows in ’24 started in a Chicago club before jumping to major festivals. A European run followed, including stops at Rock Am Ring, Hellfest, Download, Tuska, and more. A 28-date North American headline tour landed in early 2025 with Municipal Waste and Alien Weaponry joining the charge.
At this point, we’re all just patiently waiting for another ass-kicking, Mr. King, sir.
