Seems only a few Hollywood actors are able to play super heroes / villains? I can never understand why they cast one actor in multiple comic book roles. Jason Momoa is returning to the DC cinematic universe. This time, as Lobo.

As you know, between 2016 and 2023, Momoa was part of Zack Snyder’s Aquaman, starring in two standalone movies, and cameos in other DC projects too. Now, James Gunn wants him to play the villainous Lobo.
Momoa broke the news on his Instagram account, “He was always my favourite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role. I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it’s a fuck yeah.”
He captioned the post, “They called.” James Gunn commented, “Welcome, my friend.”
Gunn shared Momoa’s post on his Instagram Stories, which included the hashtag #Supergirl. Momoa’s official debut as Lobo will come in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow starring Milly Alcock.

A release date for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow hasn’t been set, although it’s expected in 2026. Production is supposed to start next month. And no, no plot details either.
James Gunn’s iteration of the DC Universe starts in ’25 with the David Corenswet-led Superman. That’s in theatres on July 11, 2025, and is the first movie in the new DC Universe, a soft reboot of the DC Extended Universe.
No disrespect, I love Momoa as Aquaman. But leave his as Aquaman. Who SHOULD they have cast as Lobo?
