Wow. Another one. Have you heard? According to Air Mail, actor / Thirty Seconds To Mars singer Jared Leto has been accused of sexual misconduct by nine women. He’s denied the allegations.
This is a fairly big read, so let’s get into it.
This past Friday (June 6), multiple women accused Leto of inappropriate behaviour from back in the early 2000s. One accuser said it was “an open secret” that Jared texted sexual remarks to teenage models.
You may have heard about these allegations last month. L.A. based DJ Allie Teilz shared on old Facebook post of hers, written in 2012, on her Instagram Story, that read: “You’re not really in L.A. until Jared Leto tries to force himself on you backstage… In a kilt.. And a snow hat. I was assaulted and traumatized by this creep when I was 17. I was assaulted and traumatized by this creep when I was 17.” In a separate story she wrote, “He knew my age and didn’t care. What he did was predatory, terrifying and unacceptable.”
A rep of Jared Leto has “expressly denied” the accusations, including Teilz’s, saying the claims were “demonstrably false”.
One woman told Air Mail that in 2006, at the time she was 16, that Leto approached her outside a Los Angeles café. She says the Suicide Squad actor was sat with fellow actor Ashley Olsen (who was 19) and he grabbed her arm, “I looked down and it was Jared Leto. We had a quick conversation, and he got my number.” She said Leto called her a few days later, “I don’t know if he was on drugs or what … It was the weirdest, grossest voice … (but) for me, it’s Jared, you know?”
Leto’s rep said he’s been sober for more than 35 years.
The accusers added that Leto hosted a party at his house that evening and invited her. She said she declinded. “I didn’t even have a driver’s license”, and said that Leto kept calling her, “always at one, two, three AM”, adding the conversations turned sexual. He’d ask things like: ‘Have you ever had a boyfriend? Have you ever sucked a dick?’”
Model Laura La Rue had similar allegations, saying that when she was 16-years-old in 2008, she was at an event in a private residence in Beverly Hills where Leto was “watching her so intensely”, telling Air Mail, “He asked how old I was. I said, ‘I’m 16. How old are you?’” Leto was 36 at the time. And allegedly asked for her phone number. They soon were emailing, which resulted in her visiting Leto’s home in April 2009 (or, so says Air Mail).
“I remember him teasing me the whole time I was there,” La Rue said, adding: “He was flirting with me. He’d lean in close, then pull away, like it was a game.”
In a statement to Air Mail, a representative of Leto said: “Their communications contain nothing sexual or inappropriate … and Ms La Rue later applied to work as Mr Leto’s personal assistant, further underscoring the absence of anything inappropriate in any of their interactions.”
Another woman told Air Mail that she and Leto began texting while she was underage. She says he would ask inappropriate questions during her visits to his house, like, “Do any of the little boys you hang out with fuck you?”
The woman says that once, when she was 18, Leto had “suddenly pulled his penis out and started masturbating”. She told Air Mail: “He walked over, grabbed my hand, and put it on him. He leaned in and said: ‘I want you to spit on it.’”
Yikes. Another megastar with sexual misconduct allegations. Doesn’t ever seem to end, does it?
