Iron Man, Captain America and more to be recast after ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’

It’s time. Iron Man, Captain America and more will be recast after the release of Avengers: Secret Wars.

Marvel Studios chief, Kevin Feige, announced the plans at a press discussion last Friday (July 18).

Which characters are we talking? How about a new cast of X-Men? Just in time for the new movie, directed by Jake Schreier.

Now don’t sweat it. Many of the actors from X-Men movies you’ve loved the last two decades are back in their roles in Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to hit theatres next year. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, and Rebecca Romijn are back.

But yeah, a bunch of characters will have new actors.

Feige said, “We’re utilizing that (story) not just to round out the stories we’ve been telling post-Endgame, just as importantly — and you can look at the at the Secret Wars comics for where that takes you — it very, very much sets us up for the future. Endgame, literally, was about endings. Secret Wars is about beginnings.”

Feige added that Secret Wars will be more of a “reset” than a “reboot”.

“Reboot is a scary word… Reboot can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Reset, singular timeline — we’re thinking along those lines. X-Men is where that will happen next.” It was around this point of the discussion that Feige mentioned Iron Man & Capt. America.

Feige then hinted that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman may be in more projects, after the success of Deadpool & Wolverine. “I think there is more fun to be had with both of those characters. But we’ll see where.”

Who would you like to see cast as Captain America and Iron Man?
