Incubus singer Brandon Boyd recently did an interview with Flux FM and in terms of when you’ll hear new music, things sound promising!
By the way, the new album is Incubus’ first in eight years! 2017’s ‘8’ was their last. And while the band hasn’t officially announced anything, Brandon did say the album was completed earlier this year.
“We actually finished the album, I guess about, a little over two months ago. And it’s like mastered, it’s mixed, it’s just ready to go. The sad part about finishing the album in this day and age is that, as much as I would like to just put it out; I would love to put it out tomorrow, and we could put it out tomorrow, but it would get just lost in the shuffle of the internet, you know what I mean?”
As for when you can expect its release? “We’re gonna do like setup work for it and it’s probably gonna come out in October. So there will be a single that’ll come out before October, probably in the next few months, there’ll be a single. …Even with all of the setup that we’re gonna do, it most likely will still get lost in the internet [laughs]. Because it’s the internet.”
The new Incubus album also marks their first with new bassist Nicole Row, who Boyd says has “become a very fast asset to the band”. In terms of her involvement, Brandon said they wrote the album with her and that Row “has amazing ideas” and is “a breath of fresh air”.
Gotta be honest. I’m stoked to hear new Incubus! Have always dug these guys and am usually surprised by something on each album. Let’s go Brandon, release the music! It’s always going to get ‘shuffle of the internet’.
