“I don’t think we’re done” Roger Taylor on Queen’s future

Brian May has spoken. The future of Queen? Still alive and kicking. They just celebrated 50 years of Bohemian Rhapsody, not bad for a song most radio programmers thought was too long for airplay. And now, they’re eye’ing the future.

Rolling Stone caught up with Queen guitarist May and drummer Roger Taylor, and both made it clear: Queen isn’t hanging it up any time soon. “I don’t think we’re done,” Taylor said. “And I don’t think we’re gonna say, you know, final farewell tour or whatever. ’Cause it never is, is it?”

“New” singer Adam Lambert’s been holding down frontman duties since 2011, most recently wrapping up the massive Rhapsody Tour in Tokyo last year. And May says they’ve even been in the studio with Lambert. “Not many people know, but Adam and we have been in the studio trying things. Nothing really materialised so far. Some things are meant to be and some things are not.”

Okay. So don’t hold your breath. Copy that.

Another big idea on the table? A Queen show at The Sphere in Las Vegas. May said he saw The Eagles play there and basically thought, why not us? “The stuff we could bring to this would be stupendous,” he said.

Remember, Queen’s last studio album was 1995’s Made In Heaven, released after Freddie Mercury’s death. Since then, only one “new” song with Mercury’s vocals, “Face It Alone”, has surfaced (in 2022).

Bottom line: Queen is not done!

Are you excited about the possibility of a new Queen album?
