Nine Inch Nails just released ‘As Alive As You Need Me To Be’, the first single from their soundtrack album for Tron: Ares. And, you can now watch the movie’s trailer below!
The new Tron movie has the first ever film score from Nine Inch Nails, although singer Trent Reznor and collaborator Atticus Ross have scored lots of things together in the past.
‘Tron: Ares (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)’ arrives September 19. You can pre-order/pre-save it here. The movie hits theatres on October 10.
‘As Alive As You Need Me To Be’ lyrics: “Give me something to believe in / All these hands have got a hold on me”.
As mentioned, Reznor and Ross have worked on lots of stuff – 20 films – and have won two Oscars (for their work on The Social Network and Soul). Their work together with director Luca Guadagnino on ‘Challengers‘ won them a Golden Globe Award.
Tron: Ares is the sequel to 2010’s Tron: Legacy (which Daft Punk scored) and is the third movie in Disney’s Tron franchise. According to the press release, it follows a “highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”
The movie stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters and Jeff Bridges.
Meanwhile, Nine Inch Nails just wrapped up the UK leg of their ‘Peel It Back’ tour, their first live shows since ’22. Interestingly, the band used two stages on this tour, the main stage was for their big hits, the smaller stage for the deep cuts, acoustic versions and remixes.
Cool, right?
And you may remember that this past December, frontman Trent Reznor hinted that new music may be on its way, saying the band was “back in the driver’s seat” in regards to writing new music. It would be the first new music since ’18’s ‘Bad Witch’ and ’20’s ambient double album, ‘Ghosts V-VI’.
Nine Inch Nails is perfect to score the music for Tron, aren’t they?
