Like me, I bet you that the majority of Guns N’ Roses fans are wondering why original drummer Steven Adler didn’t land the gig – no offence, of course.
If you hadn’t heard, there’s been a departure in Gn’R … longtime drummer Frank Ferrer is out, AWOLNATION drummer Isaac Carpenter is in.
Guns N’ Roses took to social media to announce the change.
“Welcoming Isaac Carpenter as the new drummer of Guns N’ Roses.”
To get you up to speed – Carpenter has been in AWOLNATION since 2014 and he’s worked with GNR’s bassist Duff McKagan in Loaded, Adam Lambert and A Perfect Circle. Clearly, Isaac has the chops to play for Gn’R.

Okay, so what happened with Frank Ferrer? He left the band on March 19, after 19 years as Guns N’ Roses’ drummer.
Here’s what the band said, “Guns N’ Roses announce the amicable exit of Frank Ferrer, the longest-serving drummer in their storied run. The band thanks Frank for his friendship, creativity, and sturdy presence over the past 19 years, and they wish him success in the next chapter of his musical journey.
Frank first joined GNR during a show in June 2006 helping anchor the rhythm section during subsequent tours, including their recent outings featuring the reunited trio of Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan. His last show with the band took place November 5, 2023 in Mexico.”
So I guess Isaac’s first show with Gn’R will be at Black Sabbath’s final reunion gig? Or is there something sooner? That’s in Birmingham, England on Saturday, July 5.
Again, no disrespect intended whatsoever – but as a big fan of the band, aren’t you at all curious as to why Steven Adler isn’t invited back into the fold? The original drummer. He still has chops. Fans would lose their minds. Regardless, a changing of the Gn’R guard. Welcome to it, Isaac!
