Green Day Release Skate Film ‘Monsters & Saviors’

Green Day teamed up with Monster Energy to release the new skate film, “Monsters & Saviors”! It’s in celebration of the band’s current “The Saviors Tour”. The eleven-minute video was directed by cinematographer Russell Houghten and showcases Green Day’s albums “Dookie” and “American Idiot” .

Green Day has long been part of the skateboarding scene, and in the video you see footage of Monster Energy skateboarders, including Nyjah Huston.

The band became a household name when they released 1994’s album “Dookie”. And continued down the path with 2004’s “American Idiot”. Their music has been featured in skateboard video soundtracks and the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video game.

In the video, three of the band’s biggest songs are used – “Longview” shows street skating on location in Los Angeles and San Diego, “American Idiot” is played during a backyard pool section filmed in Victorville, California (with a cameo by 1970s pro skateboarder Steve Olson) and a new song, “Bobby Sox”, is heard during the aerial session on the “Sloanyard” mega ramp complex in Vista, California.

Monster Energy skateboarders featured Include: Jake Yanko, Nyjah Huston, Giovanni Vianna, Gabriel Fortunato, Filipe Mota, Jhancarlos Gonzalez, Fabiana Delfino, Liam Pace, Kieran Woolley, Matt Berger, Tom Schaar, Ruby Lilley, Yam Behar, Rune Glifberg, Trey Wood, Elliot Sloan, Moto Shibata, Cocona Hiraki and Edouard Damestoy.

Pretty cool to see bands creating videos like this. Green Day for the win!
