Variety says Sarah Michelle Gellar is in talks to once again play Buffy Summers in a sequel series. It’s said the focus will be on a new slayer protecting the world from vampires. Buffy will be in a mentor role.
Oscar winning director Chloe Zhao (Nomadland, Eternals) is executive producer. So they’re in good hands. No surprise original series creator Joss Whedon isn’t listed among the creatives (in 2021, there were claims of inappropriate behaviour on set while making the show).
Joss, let’s have you sit this one out.

“Well that’s cool Chloe Zhao directing series Buffy the vampire Slayer reboot. Glad Sarah Michelle Gellar is back”. One compared it to the arrival of a new Marvel film, writing: “Never mind Fantastic 4, I’m more excited about news of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot. Still got my poster from my teenage years somewhere, might go for a rummage and put it up!”
It doesn’t make sense…they say the reboot will focus on a new slayer, and Buffy will be a mentor/watcher…but Buffy changed everything, and now there are thousands of slayers working together, why would she be mentoring this one?

The show remains damn near iconic, if series can be that? Sure. Why not? Rotten Tomatoes named the series the best horror TV series of all-time.
All. Time. Look that up. If it’s not Buffy the Vampire Slayer, then which series is it?
