Have you seen this? As a big MMA fan, stoked that they’ve released a teaser trailer for the MMA drama, The Smashing Machine! And to some, Dwayne Johnson looks ‘unrecognizable’ in the role.
The movie is a biographical drama built around the life of 2x UFC Heavyweight Champ Mark Kerr.
Last year, Johnson told Variety that he wanted to work on more dramatic projects, “I’m at a point in my career where I want to push myself in ways that I’ve not pushed myself in the past. I’m at a point in my career where I want to make films that matter, that explore a humanity and explore struggle (and) pain. I want to be clear not to say that this is an abandonment of big, four-quadrant movies,” he continued. “I love making them, and there is tremendous value and importance in (them) … but there’s a time and a place for them.”
“I’m at this point in my career where I want more. And I don’t mean I want more box office. I mean I want more humanity. And that is why Benny Safdie is the perfect, collaborative, hungry partner for me.”
The Rock looks totally unrecognizable. Good on him for finally stepping out of the white shirt and typical comfort zone roles he usually always does.

Meanwhile, if you haven’t heard about this one – Johnson stars in a new movie by Martin Scorsese, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and his Smashing Machine co-star Emily Bunt. Scorcese’s movie is being described as Goodfellas meets The Departed. It’s set in Hawaii, and tells the story of someone who “battled encroaching rivals for control of organized crime” on the islands.
I mean, if you’re gonna make a movie about Mark Kerr, you need a guy the size of The Rock. Trailer looks cool, hey?
