Have you heard of a band called Sol Invicto? Why am I just hearing about a band formed by producer/guitarist Richie Londres, Stephen Carpenter (Deftones) and Eric Bobo (Cypress Hill)? They just announced the release of their debut EP, “Loosely Aware”! It’s out November 8, ’24. Watch the official visualizer for their first single, “The Obvious Play”, below!
The band says, “It’s been quite the journey to get this to the people, just a taste of what’s to come.”
Apparently the trio has been playing together, experimenting, for years. You may recognize the singer in the first single, “The Obvious Play”. It’s Sean Plague of Plague To Pyres. Some may say that this EP isn’t their first release – which is true. Sol Invicto also released an extremely rare, private double album, “Initium”, in 2017. That album had demos and experimental tracks.
On “Loosely Aware”, you should expect heavy riffs, crushing lead guitar lines, industrial and electronic elements and Eric Bobo’s percussion. The EP starts up the band again – now ready to write album #2 laster this year! No kidding. Expect more music by year’s end!
Did you even know there was a genre called experimental metal? Well, there is.
Sol Invicto was working on new music back in ’18 – but plans were delayed. Now, in 2024, they’re back on track with the three-track EP “Loosely Aware”!
Cool project. What’s your favourite side-project?
