Creed’s Scott Stapp To Make Grand Ole Opry Debut

Is this comin’ outta left field for anyone else? No offence, of course. But never did I imagine that Creed singer and solo artist Scott Stapp would be invited to play at the Grand Ole Opry! No kidding. He’s there on October 23, it’s his first time inside the circle and the first time he’ll perform his first-ever duet, “If These Walls Could Talk”, with Dorothy. In all honesty, the acoustic song is huge – and written by Stapp with Kylie Sackley (Sam Hunt, Keith Urban), Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne) and Scott Stevens (Halestorm, Shinedown).

Stapp’s songwriting checks a lot of boxes, I guess, to play the Opry. Three chords and great storytelling; from “Higher” to “Arms Wide Open”, “My Own Prison”, “One Last Breath”, “My Sacrifice” and “Weathered”, to solo singles “Purpose For Pain”, “Higher Power” and current hit “Black Butterfly”,.

Stapp was recently interviewed by Nashville’s The Tennessean and said, “I was unaware until I got into the community how big it is and how supportive and protective they are of people who are sincere… When they know your heart, they’ve got your back.”

On being invited to play the Opry, “I am humbled by this invitation and grateful for the Opry’s tradition of including outliers like me. The Nashville songwriting community has been an incredible source of inspiration and support through a life-changing era for me, so it is a distinct honor to step into the circle for the first time.”

Stapp has had a big 2024 – a chart-topping debut with his fourth solo album, “Higher Power” and of course, the return of Creed. Massive. Billboard called their tour “one of the hottest rock tickets of the year”, while USA Today said it was “one of the most anticipated tours of the summer”. No doubt. Sold out amphitheaters shows – with so much demand that they had to extend the tour to include Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena (November 8) and Madison Square Garden (November 29).

Seems Scott’s year continues to grow. And that’s super impressive!

Are you surprised to see The Grand Ole Opry invite Scott Stapp to perform?
