A lot has shifted in the C.O.C. universe since 2018’s No Cross No Crown. At that point, the classic lineup of Pepper Keenan (vocals, guitar), Woody Weatherman (guitar), Reed Mullin (drums), and Mike Dean (bass) was intact. Four lifers in the trenches together since forming as teenage punks in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1982.

From the underground fury of Eye For An Eye (1984) and Animosity (1985), to the crossover crushers Blind (1991) and Deliverance (1994), Corrosion of Conformity carved their name into metal, punk, and Southern rock history. By the time No Cross No Crown arrived nearly 25 years later, they were already canonized by multiple generations of heavy music disciples.

Then, in January 2020, Reed Mullin passed away.

They didn’t stop.

What emerged was a mountain of material, ultimately split into two distinct records under one banner: Good God / Baad Man.

“As we went on, it felt like two different directions,” says Keenan. “Each album became its own little universe. ‘Good God’ leans heavier and more pissed. ‘Baad Man’ is more straight-up throwdown rock.”

Produced by Grammy winner Warren Riker, the album has been dubbed “Dark Side Of The Doom” in the studio. Think of it as a love letter to the full spectrum of rock ‘n’ roll freedom.

For the sessions, Corrosion of Conformity reunited with drummer Stanton Moore (In The Arms Of God) and brought in bassist Bobby “Rock” Landgraf (Down, Honky). The mission was clear.

“With a lot of these songs, we’re trying to make Reed proud,” Keenan says. “The stakes were high.”

The first taste comes via lead single “Gimme Some Moore,” featuring backing vocals from Ministry’s Al Jourgensen and guitarist Monte Pittman. Built like a 17-year-old’s first punk anthem, the track arrives complete with a limited seven-inch throwback pressing and a snarling video directed by Keenan.

Corrosion of Conformity hit the road this spring on a North American headlining run with support from Whores and Crobot.

Good to see Corrosion still bangin’ it out! Raise the horns.
