Cornell, 20, said you can expect the track this Thursday (November 21) and revealed it was written by MoZella (who co-wrote Miley Cyrus’ 2013 hit ‘Wrecking Ball’).
In the post, Toni showcased the song’s lyrics, “All I know is I’m not ready/ ‘Til you find me/ I’ll be waiting in the sunset of your love”.
While she says it’s her “first song”, we know she released ‘Far Away Places’ in 2019. Dad Chris produced the track in 2017, three months before he passed away.
Over the years, you’ve seen Toni perform various covers: Temple of the Dog’s Hunger Strike, Pearl Jam’s Black, Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah and more.
Toni Cornell marked this year’s Father’s Day by sharing the recording of her and dad covering Sinead O’Connor’s Nothing Compares 2 U’, writing, “Daddy, I love you and miss you so much,” she wrote at the time. “You were the best father anyone could ask for. Our relationship was so special, and you were always there for me.”
Meanwhile, more recently, Toni critized TMZ for publishing photos of One Direction Liam Payne’s hotel room and body after his death In Buenos Aires, Argentina, last month. “In the wake of Liam Payne’s tragic passing, I feel compelled to speak out about the disgusting, distressing photos released by TMZ including graphic images of his hotel room and body. Having seen those photos, I can’t help but reflect on my own experience when graphic images of my father’s death were also published by TMZ.”
“As a 12-year-old, I stumbled upon those pictures while scrolling through my iPad, and it was indescribably traumatising, and something I still carry with me to this day. TMZ still has not chosen to have the decency, seven years later, to remove those photos from the internet, and it is something I believe should be done.
“While the images of Liam have since been taken down, it means nothing. They should never have been put up in the first place, and it breaks my heart to think that his 7-year-old son, Bear, might one day come across them and suffer exactly as I did.”
Sad. TMZ is garbage. We all know that.
I like that a Cornell is still around, sharing their voice with us. You go, Toni!
