Queens Of The Stone Age Reveal New Album Title And Possible Release Date

Okay, so you’re watching Josh Homme and Dean Fertita play five-finger fillet, waiting to see who’s going to lose a finger and then Homme plunges the knife straight into his own hand. Before you’ve even processed the blood, Queens Of The Stone Age have slipped the title and possible release date of their new album into the chaos.

The 90-second teaser stars Homme and Fertita playing the knife game, with Fertita showing considerably more skill than Homme. Before things get too bloody, Fertita asks when the new record is coming out.

“September 30th, I think,” Homme replies.

After Homme stabs his own hand, a voice-over announces: “Queens of the Stone Age, the new album, ‘Perfecth’, coming September 30th.”

But there’s a catch: the September 30 date is crossed out at the end of the video. Since September 30 is a Wednesday and new albums typically arrive on Fridays, another release date is possible. The clip is also titled “Coming…soon?”

The announcement follows “Easy Street,” the first single from the new record. The psychedelic, jaunty track marks QOTSA’s first material since 2023’s In Times New Roman…. The band debuted it live last autumn during their Catacombs tour, where it became a regular part of the setlist and a fan favourite.

QOTSA is currently opening for Foo Fighters on their North American stadium tour, which began in Toronto on August 4. The run marks the band’s first North American outing since their orchestral Catacombs tour in April and May.

Before the tour, Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl explained the reason for bringing QOTSA along, pointing to his “lifelong bond” with Homme.

“What better way to share the view than with close friends,” Grohl said.

He recalled first seeing Kyuss perform in Seattle in 1992 and meeting Homme, adding: “A lifelong bond that goes far beyond the sound we’ve made together.”

The tour runs through September. So, when will Perfecth actually arrive?
