During an appearance on Trevor Noah’s World Cup Watch Party on June 16, Mike Myers was asked a question straight from a fan: “Are we ever going to see an Austin Powers 4?”

His response was short, simple and definitive.

“Yes!”

No release date. No plot details. No cast announcements. Just a one-word confirmation that immediately caught Noah off guard.

“Wow, that was a quick yes!” Noah replied.

The original Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery was released in 1997 and became a comedy phenomenon. Myers pulled double duty as Austin Powers and his arch-enemy Dr. Evil in the spoof of James Bond films and 1960s spy movies. The film’s success launched two sequels: Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me in 1999 and Austin Powers in Goldmember in 2003.

Since then, you’ve spent more than two decades wondering whether the franchise would continue.

While Myers didn’t offer any additional information this week, he has hinted at the possibility before. In 2024, he said there were “absolutely” more stories to tell in the Austin Powers universe.

He also brought back Dr. Evil for a Saturday Night Live sketch last year, using the character to parody tech billionaire Elon Musk.

Myers has largely stepped away from leading live-action films since 2008’s The Love Guru. In recent years, he has made occasional appearances on screen, including starring in Netflix’s The Pentaverate in 2022. Most recently, he appeared as music executive Walter Yetnikoff in the biopic Michael.

Of course, many fans also know him as the voice of Shrek. Myers has voiced the beloved ogre in all four films, and a fifth instalment is scheduled for release in June 2027. The upcoming movie will introduce Zendaya as Shrek’s daughter, although an early preview sparked debate among fans over changes to the franchise’s animation style.

After more than 20 years of waiting, on a scale of 1 to yeah baby! How excited are you to see Austin Powers and Dr. Evil return for one more mission?
