After roaring past expectations at the box office, the high-octane sports drama is getting another lap.

The film starred Brad Pitt as a washed-but-dangerous former racer pulled back into the Formula 1 circuit to rescue a struggling team. What could’ve been pure popcorn turned into a global juggernaut, hauling in $630 million worldwide — a record run for Apple Original Films.

Not bad for a movie some dismissed as “Dad Gun.”

And it didn’t just burn rubber commercially. F1 muscled its way into awards season, landing three BAFTA Film Awards nominations and four Academy Awards nods, including Best Picture. It also snagged two Critics Choice Awards trophies, just to flex.

Speaking to the BBC at the Oscars luncheon in Los Angeles, Bruckheimer kept it simple: “We’re working on a sequel.”

No plot details. No casting confirmations. Just the promise of more engines screaming at 200 miles an hour.

Bruckheimer admitted he was surprised by the Academy love, especially the Best Picture nomination. The road to release wasn’t exactly smooth either, with production stalled by industry strikes. But in the end, audiences showed up.

And for the record, Bruckheimer loved working with Pitt. Said it was a thrill.

Critics were on board, too. NME called it “Top Gun on wheels”. Big screens. Big stakes. Big movie star energy.

Pitt isn’t slowing down. He’ll next reprise his stuntman swagger in The Adventures Of Cliff Booth, a spin-off of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by David Fincher. The first trailer dropped during the Super Bowl, because of course it did.

But first? Another lap around the track.

Strap in!
