The first official look at The Beatles in Sam Mendes’ upcoming biopic series has surfaced, revealed through a clever real-world rollout in Liverpool.
A set of promotional postcards featuring the cast has appeared around the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), the school co-founded by Paul McCartney in 1996. The images offer fans their first glimpse of Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, alongside Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr.
LIPA confirmed the postcards’ authenticity in a social post, telling students they had been hidden across the campus and encouraging anyone who finds one to tag the school and Sony Pictures. The first card simply reads: “Paul Mescal is Paul McCartney.” Images of the remaining three quickly followed online.

Mendes’ ambitious project will unfold across four separate films, each told from the perspective of one band member. The movies are set for a simultaneous release in April 2028 and will mark the first time a feature film has been granted full access to The Beatles’ music catalogue.
Mescal recently confirmed production is still ongoing, telling Variety that the project will occupy much of his 2026. He has also said fans would benefit from knowing as little as possible before seeing the films, calling the endeavour “totally singular.”

The expanded cast includes Saoirse Ronan (Linda McCartney), Anna Sawai (Yoko Ono), Aimee Lou Wood (Pattie Boyd), and Mia McKenna-Bruce (Maureen Starkey), with further appearances from David Morrissey, James Norton, and others. Giles Martin, son of longtime Beatles producer George Martin, is also closely involved with the project.
While there’s still no footage, the Liverpool postcards offer a carefully controlled tease. No trailer. No dialogue. Just four faces, four roles, and a reminder that this story is being told on the band’s own terms. And don’t you think that’s fab?
