Foo Fighters mark 30th anniversary with new single ‘Today’s Song’

You gotta love that Foo Fighters are celebrating their 30th anniversary as a band by releasing the new song, ‘Today’s Song’!

If you follow Foo Fighters on social media, you’ve seen them share a bunch of stuff from their archives in recent weeks.

Now, they’ve given us a new song! Frontman Dave Grohl sings, “You know that nothing can prepare you, don’t let this cruel world compare you“. Grohl shared a message for the fans.

“Over the years, we’ve had moments of unbridled joy, and moments of devastating heartbreak. Moments of beautiful victory, and moments of painful defeat. We have mended broken bones and broken hearts. But we have followed this road together, with each other, for each other, no matter what. Because in life, you just can’t go it alone.”

“It should go without saying that without the boundless energy of William Goldsmith, the seasoned wisdom of Franz Stahl, and the thunderous wizardry of Josh Freese, this story would be incomplete, so we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the time, music, and memories that we shared with each of them over the years. Thank you, gentlemen.”

“And… Taylor. Your name is spoken every day, sometimes with tears, sometimes with a smile, but you are still in everything we do, everywhere we go, forever. The enormity of your beautiful soul is only rivalled by the infinite longing we feel in your absence. We all miss you beyond words. Foo Fighters will forever include Taylor Hawkins in every note that we play, until we do finally reach our destination.”

In other Foo news, they’re headlining the Singapore F1 Grand Prix concerts, Mexico’s Corona Capital and have some shows in Jarkarta and Japan. These are their first shows since firing (parting ways with) drummer Josh Freese. Will we see young Shane Hawkins behind the kit? Maybe. And of course, they cancelled European festival shows in ’24 when it became public that Dave Grohl had a baby outside of his marriage.

Honestly, I thought that would tail-spin the band so hard that they wouldn’t come back from it. Thankful Dave has come out the other side. Probably a better man, too.

Bottom link, it’s great to hear new Foo Fighters, isn’t it. Who do you think will be their new drummer?
