There’s an ‘Alien: Romulus’ sequel on the way and filming starts soon

Awesome! Alien: Romulus (now streaming on Disney+) already has a sequel in the works! And, according to director Fede Alvarez, you can expect it sooner than you think.

Romulus only arrived in theatres last August. Talk about a quick turn around for a sequel! That movie is set between the events of the original Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986) and stars Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla) and David Jonsson (Rye Lane) and follows a group of young space colonists who run into a mysterious extraterrestrial threat while scavenging an abandoned space station.

Now, Alvarez has said filming the follow-up to Romulus should start soon. He was a guest of the Marea Nocturna podcast and told them that they’re already in pre-production and the goal is to have the first scene shot this October!

It’s still too early, so there’s no release date set. Apparently Alvarez is eyeballing a summer 2026 release!

If you’ve kept up, you know that the next movie to the Alien universe is Alien: Earth. It’s a TV series that premieres on FX on August 12. Set two years before the 1979 original, it will star Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant and Alex Lawther.

Could you survive in an Alien movie?
