The Black Keys announce “labour of love” new album ‘No Rain, No Flowers’

Nice! The Black Keys just announced their 13th album, ‘No Rain, No Flowers’, and released the title track!

The duo, singer Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney, said you’ll be able to get ahold of the 11-track album as of August 8th.

The Black Keys’ new album features ’25 singles ‘The Night Before’ and ‘Babygirl’.

The band self-produced and recorded the LP at Easy Eye Sound Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. The worked with Grammy-winning songwriters Rick Nowels and Daniel Tashian and legendary keys player/producer Scott Storch (Dr.Dre, The Roots).

Singer Auerbach sayid, “I had worked with Rick Nowels on Lana Del Rey’s ‘Ultraviolence’. We’d never really collaborated with a keyboard player or someone who writes on piano the way he does, but it clicked immediately.

“This whole album was really laboured over with a lot of love. We hope you feel that.”

Carney added: “We wanted to go straight to the source – into the room with people known for their songwriting. Daniel Tashian was one of the first people I met after moving to Nashville, and we’ve been fans of Scott Storch forever.”

An official description states, “‘No Rain, No Flowers’ delivers an eclectic sound shaped by the energy and spirit of the band’s wildly popular Record Hangs – dance parties where Auerbach and Carney take turns spinning rare, but truly potent cuts from their impressive collection of vinyl 45s for baying crowds of longtime fans and new converts alike.

“These electrifying and carefully curated happenings have directly influenced the groove-driven, danceable vibe of the new record.

“More than two decades into their career, The Black Keys consistently continue to create music on their own terms, fueled by instinct, passion, and a refusal to settle. ‘No Rain, No Flowers’ is a testament to the band’s deep commitment to their craft and their enduring creativity.”

The tracklist for The Black Keys’ ‘No Rain, No Flowers’:

‘No Rain, No Flowers’
‘The Night Before’
‘Babygirl’
‘Down To Nothing’
‘On Repeat’
‘Make You Mine’
‘Man On A Mission’
‘Kiss It’
‘All My Life’
‘A Little Too High’
‘Neon Moon’

The Black Keys plan to tour to support the new album this summer. They have a few outdoor UK shows announced and tour North America next month. They have a second leg of that tour planned for later in the year. If you remember, last year the band cancelled their ’24 North American tour after a fight with their former management company. So at least they’re past that and have clearly moved on.

The Black Keys are a great live band. Seen ’em a couple times. Which summer tour are looking forward to the most?
