Zendaya to play Shrek’s daughter in upcoming sequel

Cue the outrage. Zendaya is part of Shrek 5. She’ll play Shrek’s daughter.

You knew last July that a new Shrek would come in 2026 (in time to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary). Zendaya’s appearance in the movie was confirmed with the above first-teaser-trailer.

We now know the plan is to release Shrek 5 on December 23, 2026.

And yes, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz are all back as Shrek, Donkey and Fiona.

As you’d expect, plot details for Shrek 5 are scarce and who knows if Antonia Banderas will return as Puss In Boots.

Last June, Eddie Murphy said he had started recording for Shrek 5, as well as a standalone Donkey film. “We started doing Shrek 4 or (Shrek) 5 months ago. I did this, I recorded the first act, and we’ll be doing it this year, we’ll finish it up. Shrek is coming out, and Donkey’s gonna have his own movie. We’re gonna do Donkey as well. So we’re gonna do a Shrek, and we’re doing a Donkey.”

The question is: Do we really need a Shrek 5? Maybe ’cause my kids are now grown, it doesn’t have the same appeal?
