Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot calls for more female superheroes
Gal Gadot plays Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and has called for more female superheroes.
Gadget will star in a standalone Wonder Woman movie next year, made the comments on Twitter while responding to questions from fans on Tuesday (March 29).
Asked how she feels to be a role model for girls everywhere, the Israeli actress replied: “It feels great! Being a mother, it’s very important that #WonderWoman comes back to life, we need more female [superheroes].”
She added that the comic book character is still “vulnerable” despite her superpowers and that the forthcoming film, due for release on June 23, 2017, will “explore all her sides”.
Gadot recently did an interview with IGN and said that the solo film will focus on the origins of Wonder Woman, “In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, I started at the end result of Wonder Woman. In the standalone Wonder Woman movie, it’s the first time we’re going to tell the coming of age of Wonder Woman and I’m going to go back in time, I’m going to travel back in time.”
Wonder Woman [in the solo film] is different than the one you’re going to see in BvS. She’s more naive and pure and she’s this young idealist who does not understand the complexities of men and life, whereas in BvS she’s super, she’s very experienced and it’s been such am amazing creative process.”
Wonder Woman’s first appearance on the big screen was in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, 74 years after the character was created.
