What We Know About “Suicide Squad” Reboot!

February 9, 2020

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is working on The Suicide Squad and although it’s a ways out from being released, there’s a fair amount known about the movie.

Harley Quinn is back. The Joker is not. And same for Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. Word is Will Smith won’t be back to play Deadshot (due to scheduling conflicts). Rick Flag and Captain Boomerang are back.

Here’s the list of actors and the roles they play:

Margot Robbie – Harley Quinn
Viola Davis – Amanda Waller
Joel Kinnaman – Rick Flag
Jai Courtney – Captain Boomerang
David Dastmalchian – Polka-Dot Man
John Cena – Peacemaker
Daniela Melchior – Ratcatcher
Steve Agee – King Shark
Other cast members include Idris Elba, Storm Reid, Flula Borg, Nathan Fillion, Peter Capaldi, Pete Davidson, Alice Braga, Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Taika Waititi, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng, Juan Diego Botto, Tinashe Kajese, Julio Ruiz, and Jennifer Holland. Phew, that cramped my hand.
Filming for the movie started on September 20, 2019, at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. It’s likely that they’re currently shooting in Panama (or recently wrapped up at that location).
Not long now til we see James Gunn’s version of The Suicide Squad. Will it stack up against the original? Personally, I think you’ll see him drop kick that one and blow everyone’s minds. Remember, he’s the guy responsible for Guardians of the Galaxy!

Warner Bros. confirmed an August 6, 2021 release.
